Michele Keogh

My jewellery and vessel work is inspired by the simple pleasures of daily experiences; time in the landscape and stories from family and friends.

The materials used are commonly copper and gold with occasional stones and found objects. The processes of fabrication, weaving, embossing, printing, etching and electroforming add depth to my work, creating texture, patterns and a sense of age within the designs and are often used to echo the elements of nature that are fragile but enduring. Patinas developed in the final stage of design look to the strength of colour found in the Australian landscape.

Since completing the Bachelor of Arts in Jewellery and 3D Design at Curtin University in 1992 my practice has moved from full time to part time taking my work to national, international and local exhibitions. My current work as an Archivist allows for many links with my practice through the richly documented stories of Western Australian’s and their landscape that is uncovered in the archival material.
